Alternative Marketing Connections

If you're looking for a great way to grow your fan base for your Facebook business fan page, create posts with links to other business pages.  Linking to other pages can create a viral quality to your posts, since followers of the pages you link to may get the opportunity to see your message.

For example, in the post below, I have created a recommendation and link that I've posted to my business page at Alternative Marketing Connections for the Five Star Contractors group page. 

To add the link, your page first needs to be a fan of the page you wish to link to.  To do this, you'll need to connect to Facebook as your page by selecting your fan page name from the drop-down menu at the top of the Facebook page (see menu at the right):

Google Plus (plus.google.com) is a relatively new social network targeted squarely at stealing some of Facebook's thunder.  While at this point Google Plus only contains a fraction of the number of users that Facebook offers, businesses and individuals looking to expand their online social networks should definitely consider setting up a profile and begin exploring this growing network.

This is not Google's first attempt at competing with Facebook.  Remember Google Buzz?  How about Google Wave?  These were Google's first two (failed) attempts at social networks.  While these networks ultimately did not succeed, Google has learned from them and, in my opinion, is building a strong competitor to Facebook with Google+.
